Capanno - a great night out
I've been going to Capanno for about 10 years now so I'm obviously a big fan.
Capanno features a great Australian take on Italian food, seafood lovers will be well served by a night spent at Capanno.
Don't expect to quickly duck in for tiny meals served on large plates.
I typically tell people not to plan anything much afterwards as the emphasis tends to be on leisurely dining, generous servings and a bit of fun chatting with Bobby and the staff.

Having said that, if you let them know you've got a deadline to hit (a movie down the road at Eastgardens for example), they'll happily oblige.

The Surf & Turf featuring bugs on a tender steak is a favourite of mine, along with the BBQ Octopus or Calamari for entree. The staff all seem to know what's good that night, and will happily recommend this or that. eg. "The mussels are good at the moment"

You absolutely have to try the garlic pizza bread - the best in Sydney (no, really)

What can I say? It's fresh, absolutely delicious, friendly, fun, casual and reasonably priced. It's the only Italian restaurant I choose to go to. I don't even have to suggest it to my friends anymore, they call to invite me there!    [14 Nov 2002 23:31:52]
