We've been trying dinelli's on an wednesday. There was a special offer: a vegetarian plate with a glass of wine for only 5 €. We also ordered an aperitif and a dessert.
The food: the aperitif was well served, without nuts or other. The vegetarian plate was delicious: penne with all kind of vegetables in a fat-free tomato sauce with parmesan cheese on top. All the ingredients were cooked right (penne was al dente, vegetables were 'crunchy'). For dessert I took a home made apple pie with puff pastry and vanilla ice. It was a very small portion, but again very tasteful.
Service: the waiter was not at all unfriendly, but certainly not agreeable; ( maybe it was because we used the special offer and therefore he didn't make lots of money...???), he did not say a single word, maybe that's part of the concept, who knows...
Ambiance: very clean and cosy place, the tables were a little bit too close to each other but there was a serene atmosphere and it was a very peaceful place to spend some time, toilets were also very clean and there were no disturbing noises from elevators, freezers or the kitchen.
If you only visit Dinellis for one plate it is a expensive thing (our plate normally was 18 €, which is too much for just pasta with vegetables, no matter how good the food is prepared), but if you take the menu (25 € for 3 plates) it is a medium priced restaurant.
However, because of the impersonal waiter and his distant behaviour we'd rather visit a more pleasant place. it is not that we demand a very funny waiter (that is even more irritating) but a little bit interaction with potential customers is a minimum, i think.
But to end positive: generally spoken, it was a nice experience with a delicious meal and a fine dessert. Just make sure you have the right guest to dine with, because the waiter will not be the 'funmaker'. [13 Mar 2003 13:15:59]
