Very Good Food Seemed like quite an ordinary bar/Bistro but were recommended by a local. Friendly staff helped with translations and ordering of finely cooked food, we had Sole which seemed much smaller than in uk but were exquisite. We asked for strong Belgium beers and were presented with Castell? Tripels - we were not disappointed - they are VERY powerful, seemed to make your legs shake after 4 or 5!!!!!! my favourite This is my favourite restaurant countrywide! Grant yourselves some time in the cosy tiny bar (access via the garden, which is always nicely decorated). Let the atmosphere get through to you and do not hurry to go to your table (make your reservation however while taking your apéro!). The cuisine is excuisite, I would especially recommend the royal bouillabaisse (a reddish richely flavoured fish soup with plenty of delicious fish and seefood + a lobster!). I wouldn't trade any other restaurant for this one when I am in Brugge, not even the more expensive ones [08 Jan 2004 04:21:59]

What has gone wrong! We were recommended to this restaurant by a friend who had been twice before; in 2003. Something - or indeed everything - has clearly changed since then!
Still a nice place, although no longer refectory style seating and a totally different menu. Surf & Turf now seems to be the order of the day (and night); somewhat like a latter-day Beefeater but at twice/thrice the price.
Apparently Cafedraal has, during the past couple of years, been featured in a UK tabloid Sunday newspaper. Perhaps it is now catering to the readership of the same. [03 Jun 2005 15:07:05]

Fantastic We went to Cafedraal on the recommendation of a guide book. It was fantastic. I had a steak which was wonderful whilst my partner had lamb chops topped with goat's cheese which, she told me, were amazing.
The wine list is very good and the waiters helpful when it comes to choosing what to drink.
The restaurant is decorated in a contemporary style that is very stylish, and quite romantic.
I would say that the food at Cafedraal is up there with the best food I have ever eaten and this includes restaurants with Michelin Stars. [05 Dec 2005 11:01:05]

Great restaurant My husband and I went to Cafedraal on a Saturday night, our first night in Bruges, after I read about it online. We booked a table last minute and were lucky enough to get a table for 9.30pm. When we arrived it took a while to get seated as they were so busy, but boy was it worth the wait! The waiter was king and helpful, the food to die for and the wine delicious. Overall we spent a fantastic 2 hours enjoying our food and savouring every drop of wine. We both had the 'Soup of the Sea' to start and it was a massive portion, it had crab, salmon, prawns, mussels and even lobster and at £12 was worth it. Then to follow we had the steak, it was cooked rare - medium to perfection and the chips and sauce were lovely. The decor was modern but intimate and very romantic and relaxed. I will definitely be going back. [21 Feb 2007 10:38:40]
