What a panorama you have from within the small restaurant(sits 24) over Flanders fields. A lot of corn though, instead of poppies. Beautiful plates match the colors and presentation of the (one -in a-month) five courses menu . Very original combination of local and international ingredients. Owner/cook Marijke travels widely and picks up ideas from Sydney to Brazil, but doesn't forget the duck from Bekegem.
I was especially charmed by the amuse-gueules, the snowwhite halibut and the dessert. My partner fell for the very affordable prices in the wine list

How a chef like Marijke Vanhoorne manages to assemble every month - for more than 27 years now - such a well-balanced menu and to serve it at such a price, is a mystery to me. Each time I come here, everything tastes as good and original. And what is more: in all those times I have never eaten the same twice. Since I am retired I come on Thursday or Friday evening. With less people around it tastes even better, certainly when I get my aperitif served outside on the new terrace.

Elke keer als ik er kom, smaakt alles even lekker en origineel. En wat meer is : in al die keren heb ik nooit twee keer hetzelfde gegeten. Sinds ik gepensioneerd ben ga ik op donderdag- of vrijdagavond.
