Best Pizza in Montreal by Far!
When we first moved to Montreal from another Canadian city known for its pizza, we looked high and low for a place that could compare to what we had enjoyed for years. We almost gave up when someone finally told us about Amelio's. For about three years now we have made a monthly ritual of dinner there, and we often bring friends and visiting family (who agreee that the pizza is actually BETTER than what we were used to in our home town!). Although the homemade pasta dishes are also very good, nothing compares to the pizza which is consistantly excellent. A thick but light crust (which can be ordered in whole wheat) with homemade tomatoe sauce and thickly laid fresh toppings. They also have specialty pizzas such as the very rich white pizza (alfredo sauce and several cheeses) and once we asked the waitress to just "make one up" and it was one of the best we had tried! The fact that you can bring your own wine and beer is a major plus and the ambiance in the small dining area is quiet and relaxed. Great service and very friendly owners.
