Top: Japan: Tokyo: Akasaka

Description

Basement with four or five tables and a counter. You must sit at the counter to observe the intense preparation by the chef who spent several years in France. Consistently high quality and possibly the best value in Tokyo for a full lunch including appetizer, main course, selection of desserts and tea/coffee at only 1500 yen! French and Japanese spoken.

The food is so good you can ignore the decor
The food was wonderful, but dining at a counter takes away from the romance of eating great French food. But we would eat there again in a heartbeat.    [09 Oct 2005 06:16:19]

A gem
A rare gem, hidden in the bowels of an Akasaka building. Unpretentious, soulful French, prepared in front of you by French-trained Japanese chef/owner. Relax, sit at the counter, banter with the chef, and be prepared for one dish after another, none of which disappoint. Excellent value, great sets with reasonable choices and outstanding price point. Try the cassoulet, sauteed foie gras, seafood bisque, banana/rum/chocolate flambe and ethereal lemon souffle crepe. You will not be disappointed.    [14 Mar 2007 22:45:05]
