incredible views and drinks, good food
Don't believe the skeptics -- the Lighthouse is delightful. The view is outrageous: so beautiful it would be worth it for that alone. The view from the patio accompanied by one of the powerful and delicious margaritas or Mexican coffees -- now that's vacationing at its finest! As for the food, it's very good, especially (predictably) the shrimp. It's somewhat "gringoed down" -- less garlic, cilantro, etc. than one might like -- but not in a bad way.    [05 Nov 2002 15:31:51]

Rude Rude Rude
Last time we were in Puerto Penasco, we spent our last night, as usual, dining out at the Lighthouse. What a mistake. The waiter dropped a tray of dirty dishes, while clearing another table, and I was covered with its contents. Our dinner was also ruined by being covered with the disgusting debris. Everyone thought it was funny including the manager, who witnessed the event. I was recooperating from back surgery, so the walk (with crutches) to the restroom to clean up was both exhaustive and very painful. What humiliation. I was never apologized to nor offered any means to clean myself off at the table. I have never been treated so rudely in all my life. My clothes were ruined by the stains. We were made to pay for our meal as we left even though it was inedible. The manager said the owner was not available so our complaints fell on deaf ears. Our next visits will never include the Lighthouse again. It is not worth the embarassment nor the cost. There are plenty of other restuarants to eat at.    [08 Jan 2003 17:54:10]

Super View, So-So Food
The Lighthouse was recommended to us by an American in residence in Puerto Penasco. We gave it a shot and it fell short. The service was Ok, not good, not bad, just Ok. Unfortunately for us the food was not as good as the service. I had the local fish prepared Veracruz style served with tasteless boiled carrots and somewhat bland rice. Two of my companions chose the Mexican Sample which was average at best. Even the Margaritas were so-so. They were served in different sized glasses each having different volumetric capacities; therefore, providing some of us with greater volume of drink than others, all for the same price of $4.00 each. Higher up, higher prices
The views are fantastic, but for the money, you can get better food at the local vendor stands. The service is slow at best. If you want to make sure that the food you order is available, you must go early. We tried to order 4 items and 3 were sold out!! Never again.    [04 May 2004 14:40:21]

Great view!!!
We dined at the lighthouse this past weekend, the food was great as well as the service. We were at the top of the restaurant where they have the Jazz music, it was relaxing. The area could have used more air circulation but aside from that it was excelente. There was un gringo loco that kept singing the blues all drunk to his chanclas, it was funny and made everyone laugh.    [18 Jan 2005 10:29:27]

REALLY bad service
We ate in the Crows Nest, the upstairs dining area. We were waited on after about 30 minutes! Then the food came about 45 minutes later. All of the time the VERY ARROGANT Maitre d' stood at the bar, drinking wine. Others left. We should have also. Oh, yeah. Forgot to mention that the place was NOT busy!    [29 Dec 2005 20:59:24]

The Best Restuarant in Rocky Point!
Going to check out the view is what drew us up the hill. And now that we have experienced the Lighthouse we now have a new reason. As soon as we tasted our food and had the great the service we knew we would be life long customers. Our waiter was great! So nice and friendly. And right there with whatever we needed.
