Description
China Town is located in shopping centre "De Boogerd". Kitchen is primarily Cantonese and Szechuan, but several Indonesian dishes are available too.
At the moment there are 4 vegetarian main courses.
A menu of the month ('maandmenu')- soup, several dishes and chow mein/rice/nasi, enough for 4 adults - costs 15 euro. Rice tables for two (one is possible) range from 11,35 to 52.50 euro.
Prices are takeout prices, April 2002.

Takeout and Dining, Good Quality for a Reasonable Price I order the month's takeout menu every once in a while. For about € 15,- you get two large cups of soup (usually Chinese tomato), 4 mini-spring rolls (or something similar depending on the menu of that month), three large dishes (like babi pangang/ satay, tjap tjoy, foe yong hai) and either rice, nasi or bami (= chow mein?).
The amount of soup and food you get is enough to feed four hungry adults and the quality and taste is excellent.
You can order by telephone or at the counter from a menu that covers 8 soups, 19 appetizers and 149 main courses. That does not include the menu of the month and a couple of small choice dishes for one person. I never had to wait very long for my order and the people at the counter are very friendly and patient. The takeout room is a bit small, but usually everyone fits in.
Dining is good too. But as they have such a large choice of dishes we usually ordered a buffet (many people) or we told the waitress what we like and don't like and let the cook make a selection of dishes, served on one large plate, at a fixed price per person. Whatever we ordered tasted very good, looked good and smelled good. And they always serve more than enough.
I don't know how well the English vocabulary of the personnel is, as I only heard them speak a bit of Dutch and a lot of Chinese. I am pretty sure that one of the younger waitresses can help English speaking customers.
The atmosphere is calm and relaxed, Chinese music, Chinese paintings on the walls. But its not a shiny state of the art decoration and the view outside isn't great. But the price and quality are right. [18 Apr 2002 06:18:15]
