Good Soup, Grumpy Barman
A pleasant bar which we visited a couple of times. As everywhere in Holland, the beer and coffee were good and I had a superb soup du jour. The clientele was very friendly and we discussed the failing of various European football teams [England had just been beaten by Brazil that day] in the World Cup, blues music and the benefits of living in a place where you could go fishing or sailing on your doorstep. In contrast, the barman that lunchtime, who, because of his age, I suspect may have been the owner, was distinctly unfriendly. It came as such a surprise as we didn't meet anyone else like him in the 20 or so bars we stopped at during out cycle trip around southern Holland.
