Charged for unordered birthday treat It was my mother's birthday.. she told them when she made the reservation. So when we were waiting for our food, they surprised us with this elaborate plate of longevity peach buns. We thought it was free but found out we were actually charged for it. We didn't order it!! The waitress should have said there was a charge or at least ask if we wanted it before serving it to us!! Downer for the evening even though the food was quite good. [01 Apr 2004 22:33:18]

Disappointed We were staying at the Orchard Hotel where the restaurant is located. So we decided to go there the very last evening before we had to leave Singapore, attracted by the great reviews and rewards advertised. We found an elegant but unecessary posh atmosphere. First, they seemed not to have correctly registered our reservation (which was done via the hotel front desk). We then had trouble with the service, only one menu was brought (we were 2), so we had to ask for a second one. Also, the waitress was quite "pushy" when taking the order. We decided to go for a chef specialty, the "crispy chicken" with fresh mango. The dish could come either half chicken or full, as we were 2, I asked the full chicken. When the dish arrived, I was wondering, only I found out on the check that it was only half a chicken... Anyway, we tried the chicken, nice, original and tasty... but so much fat! Actually, there was a lean portion of chicken meat and the rest was fast deep fried fat and skin. In the end, we thought, well, for the price, we should have had a little bit more meat. In the end, an overall feeling of disappointment... with an impression of "much ado about nothing". [30 Nov 2005 16:35:28]
