Wonderful Food I had the Riverboat special with a large pot of greens. The portions were big enough that I carried a "doggy bag" home with me. The greens have a wonderful spicy taste and are served with a pan of delicious cornbread. You also get a serving of pickled onions to go with this dish. The catfish is crisp and hot when served. The atmosphere is relaxed and patrons are not rushed. Tea and coffee refills are prompt. The waiters/waitresses are very courteous and helpful. [03 Apr 2001 17:56:11]

Wonderful Family Night Out We were visiting my aunt in Anniston from Mobile, AL. and she suggested we go to "Top of the River" to eat. We were delighted with the meal and the atmosphere. We enjoyed seeing the two big bass in front of the store as well. I recommend that anyone traveling to Anniston should eat there. We all had different dishes and we each enjoyed our meals. Best Seafood in Alabama I lived in Anniston and went to the Top O the River at least once a week and if I didn't feel like sitting there I would call and order it and it was always ready when I picked it up. The Riverboat Special is the best and we would serve three people from it and still have leftovers. Also if you go you need to try the fried pickles...wonderful. I live in Guntersville now and they just opened one here on the water and can't wait to get there. [03 Sep 2002 17:51:13]

Best in the South Top O' the River serves the best catfish in the South. While living in Huntsville, I would travel to Anniston for the "Riverboat Special". Thanks for opening up the Guntersville location. [09 May 2003 17:30:18]

Not Impressed I was very disappointed in this place. I have gone in the past and it was good. The service was OK -- slow and the waiter barely spoke English then. I wanted tartar sauce and the only choice they have is a very spicy horseradish and nothing else. I will not go back there. Also, the other food that we got tasted like it was frozen and also spicy...is this a Cajun place? Terrible. [16 Jun 2003 11:10:56]

Food Not Good Always been told Top O The River was a wonderful place to eat. Not in my opinion. We went to the Anniston one last night for an anniversary. Everything is fried. In the same grease! Got seafood platter. Shrimp Scampi did not have butter or garlic in it. Crab on platter was imitation. Only thing good was cornbread and slaw. It cost $92.00 plus tip for 6 people to eat. I'll not go back. [11 Aug 2003 15:20:08]

Great Food I love Top O The River. I have read where some do not like it. If you are looking for a royalty restaurant or something expensive like Red Lobster then this is not your place, but if you are looking for a place that is relaxed, with prompt service and delicious food served hot and fresh, then this is for you. I love this restaurant and have been eating there with my family and friends since I moved here in 1996. [02 Mar 2004 13:37:26]

Top O the River in Anniston is Tops My family has enjoyed this restaurant for years. We live in Goodwater, but the hour plus drive is worth it. We celebrate all special occasions here. The cornbread, greens and coleslaw are killer. I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting good home-cooked food. [16 Mar 2005 11:35:16]

Derika Rawks Not only was the food wonderful, but our server, Derika (sorry if I am not spelling it correctly) was amazing. After being blow darted in the face with the straw paper from my brother's straw, she served him a plate of raw catfish and raw onion rings. Yes! The best seafood in Alabama along with a staff that knows how to have fun. There is no better combination. [31 May 2005 17:08:59]

Wonderful Place There is nothing to compare with the cornbread and coleslaw, I could make a meal off it and be happy, but they have the best catfish and baked potatoes, we have been several times and have never been disappointed with the food or service, Our family met there for our Thanksgiving supper this year, and not only was the food wonderful, but it was nice to just get up and leave the mess behind.
