The Best Cafe in Alabama I hesitate to write this review because Donna's may become too popular and then we would not be able to get in, but here goes. Absolutely the best country cooking in Alabama and probably in the Southern USA. There is plenty to choose from and the prices are not overly expensive. On weekends you can get steaks and other specialties. People move through and do not linger when crowds are waiting. I am from Savannah and place Donna's right up there with Mrs. Wilkes' Boarding House and The Lady and Sons. Donna's is priced reasonably about like Mrs. Wilkes' and not a tourist place with high prices like The Lady and Sons owned by Paula Deen of TV fame. There should be an Alabama cooking show called "Donna Cooks for You". [06 Apr 2007 19:05:59]

Who purchased Donna's Cafe in Calera? Ok, so the food is pretty good, not the same, but alright. The service, we will see. The "ambiance"...It's a little country cafe. Overall, I would have to say that my experience with the new Donna's is limited to just one visit. However, who is the new owner? And there is not anyone there named Donna doing any cooking. Things just aren't the same without her and her daughters. Who is the new owner? [13 Sep 2007 06:22:29]
