What a find!
This is one place you should not overlook. The food is 1st rate. This is the most romantic place in Hot Springs. Located in the Park Hotel. The restaurant design is stunning. Best of all it is actually reasonably priced. I was with 6 other people and every single one loved it. I came one more time with my date before I left. Real ROMANTIC! REAL ITALIAN!    [10 Dec 2006 12:15:00]

The best place in Hot Springs as far as I am concerned.    [23 Feb 2007 14:55:05]

Looked lovely, but is too
We attempted to eat at this restaurant in late July of '07 but were refused service before as soon as we walked in the door. We were told that the restaurant was too sophisticated for our party and that we may be interested in eating at their pizza parlor down the road. I am not sure why our group was not good enough for their business, as we were all well dressed and very well mannered. But it is their loss, I suppose, as they very easily could have made 200 dollars off our group of 17.    [10 Aug 2007 17:56:00]

Angels In the Park Hotel, Hot Springs.....
Good First-Decor is cool. Very artsy throughout the small lobby of the hotel to the restaraunt. Ceiling wasn't the best art job, but cool-was blue with thick white material that was to be clouds..It's dark in there so, they look better as it gets darker..we went when the sun was starting to set. Chairs/booth seats were all sort of old lady arty style...I liked it the look....Floor is made from small old type tiles...I liked it but, not too fancy, just added to the look.

Our waiter was good, very prompt with drink refills, bringing more food and bread out. He was nice looking as well as polite for the most part.

Now The Bad-
When we arrived, the restaraunt had just opened. There was only one other table of guests at that time(only 4 tables including us, were used the whole time we were there). When we came to the door of the restaraunt(inside the hotel, by the bar area), the older female waitress pretty much ignored us...I guess if we weren't old, she figured she didn't want to acknowledge us. There were 3 of us(me and my preteen, well travelled and behaved children). The waiter that was there came and he was more polite. Maybe he and the old waitress already decided she would get the older couple, he would take us...

We ordered a few things from the menu and all had tea to drink. The glasses were smaller than norm, but our waiter kept them full.
Here was our order(after adjustments-please read below):
Crab Cakes- $8.95
Ice Tea-$1.75 each
Spaghetti & Meatballs $10.95
Spinach Ravioli $14.95
Vanilla Creme Brulee $4.75
Tiramisu $4.95
Total of $56.27

When it came time to pay, I noticed an extra $3.50 charge for a split. I asked why, since there were 3 of us, 3 meals(crab cakes, spaghetti, ravioli)...He says because we shared the food, per the manager, they have to do the extra charge.
I told him I wouldn't pay it because a split should either be when:
A: a couple is splitting only 1 meal, or the like
B: the table is splitting the check
NOT when a mother is eating with her 2 children and the food is already overpriced for the quality.
He took the cost off, after complaining loud enough, to the old waitress, for us to hear at the opposite side of the dining room.
I still gave what I thought was a good tip($10) because he had worked hard on our table up until that point. I made sure he knew what I thought as well.

FOOD TASTE:
Bread plate and garlicky paste for it...we loved the bread and pasty stuff.

Crab Cakes-These tasted like frozen ones from Wal-Mart-perfectly shaped like them, too..., with a bunch of red sauce slung all over. They were good but, I could have micro-waved them myself.

Spaghetti & Meatballs-2 big meatballs-just like the ones in the frozen foods section at Wal-Mart and spaghetti. Tomato sauce on top was like Hunts or another canned brand. Not much flavor. My son liked it.

Spinach Ravioli- This is supposed to be a whole meal...It isn't anywhere near. It was 8 pieces, no sauce, dried spinach ravioli with dried up cheese in the middle...Nothing else came with these 1 inch X 1 inch square pieces. I guess the bread was supposed to be part of it...for $14.95, it was sucky and should have only cost $1-5 maximum, and should have been on the appetizer list instead of meals.

Creme Brulee-was ok but, caramel was over carmelized and burnt...My kids each tried some(it was small) and decided to pull the caramel off.

Tiramisu was great..just like it should be...This should be what you order, only go for this and tea and bread...I'm not sure of anything else.    [24 Aug 2008 20:37:30]
