Chopping Block Steakhouse The place is beautiful if you like romance, candle light, and a rustic country home feeling. The food was excellent. The staff extremely friendly and helpfull. We had a wonderful evening there. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to spend a beautiful night with that special someone or just to get together with friends. [28 May 2004 13:54:20]

GOOD FOOD....BUT.... The food is usually top notch and the desserts are decadent, but, the owner's have made me feel anything but welcome over numerous visits. I even went in to buy a rather large gift certificate and left feeling as though I'd been a bother to the lady whose family owns the place and who "waited" on me. The wait staff is at hand when needed, but, almost seem as though they're afraid to take a deep breath....perhaps the heavy-handed owners should lighten up a little and enjoy life themselves, which in turn might allow the staff to enjoy doing their respective jobs. The food is good but the ordering area can get a little backed up during peak business times. Overall, it's worth the stiffness in the air to stop and eat at the Chopping Block! The atmosphere was nice and casual. We felt comfortable wearing shorts while others had on dress clothes. The food was very good and the prices were appropriate. The waitress was very attentive. [20 Jun 2006 18:50:09]

GREAT Chris was our waiter....unfortunately, he's left for other ventures..(college?) Great steaks! prices are a bit high...but for a great steak & wonderful atmosphere, it's well worth it. [07 Jan 2007 17:32:54]

Somewhat Okay We went in there to get a couple of steak dinners. I always order medium rare. It's happened to me twice there ordering steak and it does not matter if its a sirlion or a New York Strip they end up with more fat than meat. I expected the NY strip to have a line of fat down one side and a small amount on the ends. What I got was a line of fat down both sides and an inch of fat on both ends. In the middle which could not be seen until it was cut into was some more fat, in fact I nor my husband could cut it easily with the steak knife. Of course they tried to make things right being that I ordered a New York Strip instead of what I ordered last time nealy 2 weeks ago which was a sirlion. The cook suggested I order a sirlion instead of the New York Strip dinner after I was told by the manager that the NY Strip had less fat, the cook told me the sirlion would have less fat. So they replaced my order of a New York Strip with a regular sirlion dinner which was $3 less than the NY Strip dinner. But in the end on the tab I got charged full price for the NY Strip steak dinner. In my opinion and being familar with steak cuts and steak houses in the past I do believe that some of the cooks and hired help are not familar enough with how to cut meat properly. Being a former health inspector you learn things like that over the years and recognize it when you eat out, aside from many other things. Aside from that the place was clean our waitress was on top of things such as drinks, and the ice scoop was kept out of the ice bin. I would recommend any other dish they have other than steak.
