Rock Springs Cafe The parking lot is full of pickups from the nearby ranches, Mercedes and SUVs from Scottsdale and bikers out for a ride. The lot was recently paved by the way. I enjoyed the fish fry on Friday evening. I've also had the Chicken Fried Steak and of course one of Penny's Pies. The locals really add to the atmosphere. This was an actual stage coach stop many years ago. [25 Mar 2003 14:36:15]

Have been to this cafe several times. My husband and I enjoy the good food, great atmosphere and down home real people. Have enjoyed the fish, ribs, ground round and many wonderful breakfasts there. [09 May 2003 14:57:14]

patty melt The best patty melt I have ever had. I have to come up often and have one. Also, have introduced Rock Springs to other patty melt lovers. They agree, the best. We also sometimes get some to go for the next day. [31 Aug 2003 04:08:18]

Wow! What an experience! On a world wind tour to the Grand Canyon for my mother's 70th birthday wish. We stopped in at Rock Springs Cafe to see what it was all about. Incredible! We took a pie to go (the Jack Daniels Pecan Pie). It was eaten the whole weekend. In the dark, in the van, and in the hotel. It was a cherished item on the trip. [01 Oct 2003 12:47:45]

Chocolate Pie I don't usually order anything chocolate when eating out because it disappoints compared to what I can make at home. But the Chocolate Pie! Wow! Let's just say I drive 45 minutes for the best pie I've ever eaten! [25 Nov 2003 00:56:59]

World's Best Pecan Pie The J.D. Ask for it warmed just to room temp, and be sure to have some vanilla ice cream with it. [01 Jan 2004 13:15:33]

You have to go at least twice. At a friend's recommendation this was our first stop on the way to the Grand Canyon. The ambience, the people the lunch and of course the pies were terrific. We stopped again on our way home. Take note we went to Grand Canyon once and the Rock Creek Cafe twice. [14 Aug 2004 19:58:16]

Our First Visit We moved to Arizona from the east coast about a year ago. We saw a story on TV about the Rock Springs Cafe and Penny's pies. I had the patty melt and have to agree that it was the best I've ever had. We liked the atmosphere, the waitresses and, well, we liked everything about our experience. This is sure to become one of our favorite places! The pies were just like the ones "our mothers used to make!" It was well worth the drive. [11 Oct 2004 19:41:28]

Annual Pilgrimage to Rock Springs Cafe On our first trip to AZ, we stopped at Rock Springs after 24 hours of driving. Our taste buds awoke our tired bodies. We moved to AZ and took weekly trips for the great food, the occasional mouse dashes across the floor and an old west feel with great food. We moved to WA and make our annual pilgrimage to Rock Springs Cafe for the food, atmosphere and reminiscing. Don't miss this quaint life experience! [07 Mar 2005 01:26:55]

as a teen... As a teen who just moved to New River AZ from Philadelphia PA/Townsend DE I didn't really want to do anything but hang with friends and not, NOT my dad. But one night I didn't have a choice. We went to Rock Springs Cafe. When I walked in I thought, wow this place is old western which was kinda cool. Anyway I realized the food was amazing and the people were so nice! Now even though I moved south we still go back up there just for the great food and extremly nice staff there. My dad has even partied with a few of the waitresses! I love it there and wish I could move back up there. [18 Apr 2005 23:34:12]
