Plastic Seafood We dined there on 12/20 and came away full, but not necessarily satisfied. The writer had the sirloin steak, while his dining companion tried the Lobster Spears, or Sticks, or whatever they called them.
Our server did an excellent job of keeping the iced tea glasses full, and he was both prompt and attentive during the meal.
The first hint of plasticity came with the salads. Lettuce, lettuce and more lettuce. One ring of purple onion, one thin slice of tomato. If there was a crouton, it was no where to be found.
The cheese biscuits were hot and tasty and the serving of four was sufficient for the two diners.
When the steak was ordered, there were two requests: Teryaki style, and any vegetable that was not brocolli.
When the steak was delivered -- an amazingly small 9 ounces -- there was no sign of Teryaki, and it came accompanied by a mound (larger tanthe steak) of boiled baby carrots that seemed to have been plucked from the vegetable medly. Some were overcooked and mushy, others were undercooked and crunchy. They were unseasoned and tasted just like, well, plastic.
My companion's lobster (rock lobster tails and scallops on skewers) was significantly overcooked, but the rice pilaf that accompanied it was described as "pretty good".
Dessert was declined. The wallet would have been $40 lighter, but it only seemed fitting to pay with plastic. [20 Dec 2003 23:43:29]
