horrible I'm from NY, this is not an Italian restaurant, the serving sizes are tiny, the prices high and the food quality poor. They somehow managed to screw up the easiest meals. Sausage and pepper heros, calzones, even pasta with meat sauce - all sucked. The new owners are leeching off the former owners' reputation. The atmosphere is cheesy, service sucked...all in all its your average Arizona imitaion Italian restaurant. [31 Oct 2003 14:56:50]

Delicious, not pretentious Bob and Sally are the perfect hosts for this small, neighborhood restaurant. Delicious Italian entrees and pizza, with excellent service. Moderately priced. Try them once, and you'll be back! [08 May 2004 12:57:23]

not bad Native New Yorker, definitely hard to find a match for the Italian food back east, but the food is pretty good. Pasta dishes are probably the way to go. The Mozarelly Caprese is nice for a start. [21 Jun 2005 00:44:40]

Authentic NY Italian Food, as close as you're going to get in AZ I’ve been going to Uncle Sal’s for six years now. I’m all about the food and it’s amazing! You can’t go wrong on the menu. The prices range from $8 to about $25 per plate, depending on what you want. A recommendation is the house salad with the house Italian dressing with your meal, also I’m not a soup fan but I’ve never had a bad soup there. For meals the veal Mario, veal or chicken saltimbocca, and the gnocchi is perfectly cooked (not easy to do). The garlic bread is also the best I’ve ever had, spiced to perfection. The desserts are wonderful. In the summer the sorbets are so light and refreshing, in the winter the spumoni, cannoli, cheesecake, and tartufu are all wonderful. I’d avoid the tiramisu; it’s a little bland for my liking.
The service is spectacular, your water glass will never be empty and any silverware you used with your appetizer and is taken away is immediately replaced. The waiters are also easy on the eyes, and extremely knowledgeable about the wine and menu.
The crowd is mostly families and couples on dates; the atmosphere is average and background music nice. It’s a small place and they’ve done a decent job. If you’re going on a Friday or Saturday I’d make a reservation, otherwise it’s pretty easy to get a table and you’re never rushed out. Not many know about it yet, take advantage while you can! Satisfied It was quite a place, but a little bit hard to get their attention because we're hearing impaired. It took time for one of them to come to us. But no big problem. It went fine. [19 Nov 2006 00:56:57]

Sour Grapes I went just because of this last review there are a lot of fakes out there, the guy who wrote this is way off base. We took a hard person to please our mother, no fooling her; she went through everything and had nothing but good things to say. Fresh and to the minute. Service not over done. Looked like a lot of regulars in house. Great bar area. No small portions though, can't be same restaurant. We took ample home. [22 May 2007 17:52:27]
