Best in the Area! After many, many visits to Green Valley and Tubac, we finally tried Shelby's. Ended up returning 3 times that week! The food is fresh, unique, interesting and delicious. Staff are attentive and great with small children. My mouth is watering just thinking about Shelby's! [09 May 2002 16:00:39]

Best Kept Secret in Green Valley/Tubac You can't go wrong with Shelby's Bistro. The food is absolutely world class. From sophisticated to simple the food is unique, tasty and beautifully presented.
There is a small but well thought-out wine list. Try the Arrowood cab.
The service is attentive and prompt and the atmosphere casual. Prices are very fair for this supurb restaurant. [02 Aug 2002 19:56:24]

Good food, but a bit pricy On a day trip from Tucson, we stopped in Tubac for some lunch. Having read the previous reviews for Shelby's in Chefmoz, we decided it was worth a try.
In summer, they seem to have an abbreviated menu, which is understandable, but it there wasn't a problem with the range of selections: salads, soups, wraps, and sandwiches. After a perusal of the menu, one of us ordered the veggie wrap and lemonade, the other the portabella club with the bacon omitted (we're both vegetarians) and a Negra Modelo.
Our order arrived rapidly, and both had a side of fries (although they were not seasoned fries as stated on the menu, oh well). The portabella mushroom was very good, having been marinated and then grilled, topped with feta cheese and grilled onions, this made for a good lunch. The veggie wrap was also good, with a ginger snap cream cheese (a bit too much cheese for one of us, but it was fine for the other) which had a very slight ginger flavor making for a nice difference from most veggie wraps.
Upon recieving the bill, we were surprised that the portabella was $1.50 more than the menu price, pushing it to ten bucks; that's a bit steep. Overall, the two sandwiches and drinks ran nearly $25 without tip, which, for what we got, was a bit pricy for lunch. [18 Jul 2004 14:32:44]
