Really Great Restaurant in a Small Town, a Pleasant Evening I enjoyed a very good steak at Rods. It was prepared as I ordered. Service was outstanding and owners are working in the restaurant and are attentive to what's going on. A very nice restaurant in any town. [29 Oct 2003 07:59:27]

As Good As I Remember Driving to California from Pennsylvania was the high point of many childhood summers for me. My dad would pile us into his newest Chevy and we’d follow some circuitous route to the west coast. Our trips would take in national parks, historic locals, souvenirs stands, reptile farms and just about every tourist trap/activity offered to the adventurous traveler in the 1960’s. Some stops never earned a return visit others developed into our family lore. Rod’s Steak House became one of my families most enjoyed destinations when we found ourselves traveling Route 66 on our way through Williams. As a kid the steaks seemed bigger than a 10 gallon hat., the waitresses like old friendly aunts and my folks a little more buoyant than when facing the usual rest stop fare (or was it the occasional Rod’s cocktail ?). My recent visit proved little had changed. Well my 1962 menu was a bit outdated. But the cuts of meat were juicy , the service friendly and efficient and the ambience still reminded me I was in a steak house ‘out west’. Our visit was most enjoyable and I managed to introduce my new wife to one of the few remaining icons of my childhood. [17 Jan 2004 20:52:43]

Do Not Eat Here When we complained about the meal the owner, Stella Sanchez, was rude and wanted to fight. [10 Apr 2004 12:16:06]

Don't Do It Rod's has lived off its world famous name and length of time in Williams. The cook looked pretty bad when I ate there (and I might add that I haven't been back). It's dark inside, was too cold, and my steak was burnt crispy. [05 Oct 2006 14:19:45]

Rod's, a Route 66 Gem If you are a Route 66 "junkie" as my wife and I are, make sure you make Rod's Steakhouse "one for the road"! The food (dinner) was great and the small town Route 66 dining experience and atmosphere make it a true 66 memory. Not to be missed on the mother road. [12 Feb 2007 21:31:38]

From a Former Employee: Don't Waste Your Time Yea, its pretty inside, food is great, service is wonderful, yea it has to be. Because if we are not perfect we get yelled at or belittled in front of the customers. We go home crying every night because of how we are treated by the owners. Mostly the wife. We go to work wondering what we are going to do to make her mad and be yelled at. Isn't it sad that we have to feel that way. Customers go there for meals that are great, service that is great. And yes it is beautiful inside. they have no idea what really goes on. I know because I quit out of humiliation that was caused by one of the owners repeatedly. I hope the food is worth it to you all. [21 Jul 2007 19:03:45]

We Must Have Been There on a Bad Night Because everyone tells me how great it is.
I would choose Denny's over this place and have a better dinner for a lot less money. [03 Aug 2007 20:48:06]
