When you arrive at the White House, a valet parks your vehicle, for $4, in a small back lot behind the restaurant. This seemed inappropriate. The restaurant was nice, table settings pretty, but slow, inattentive and forgetful servers -- that was awful. We were a party of six, seated over 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Iced teas ordered, we had to ask for spoons and sweeteners; spoons only arrived after about 6 minutes, request sweeteners again -- took almost another 10 minutes. The prices alone should have dictated one server per table with six or more people. There were many people working or moving about but providing little or no service. Nearly all dinner items are separately priced and quite pricey for what was offered. Appetizers, specials and desserts were extremely overpriced. The bathroom, with gold-streaked painted wash basin and toilet, should be redone. What were they thinking? The veal entree was the best veal I've ever eaten; outstanding. The white chocolate mashed potatoes were creative and delicious. It was an experience I will not repeat, certainly not at those prices.    [19 Jan 2008 00:13:26]
