Smug's can smuggly say they're the best!
I first discovered Smug's Pizza in Arcata, California when I attended Humboldt State University. I have to say that it is the ultimate best in pizza I have ever had. I have lived all over the US, from Wisconsin to California to New York and everywhere in between and even now, years after my last piece of Smug's pizza, I can still say that it is the absolute best. But oddly enough, only in Arcata. There is another Smug's in Eureka, the neighboring town, but it is in no comparison to the pizza found in Arcata. Barely bigger then a closet in the wall, it is by far one of the best pizza places anywhere. The ingredients are fresh and whether you have your pizza with red sauce or with pesto, it's simply divine. My last trip to California, I drove five hours out of my way just to get back to Arcata for that lovely pizza. Cheap, at only about 1.50 a slice, fresh, and creative in their selection, I only wish it was closer to home. THis is definitely pizza on the go though as there is no seating, though many opt to sit on the sidewalk to enjoy their pizza. It is very much a college student's grab and go. Worst Pizza Ever
I can't believe that someone would have the audacity to claim that Smug's is the best pizza they ever tasted. The pizza tastes like cardboard and is bland as hell. don't hate on smug's
Though sober now, I have no doubt that smug's pizza, specifically its artichoke and pesto masterpiece, is the highlight to anyone's trip behind the redwood curtain. Best Pizza Ever!
Don't know what the last dude was talking about! this pizza is awesome! great prices, and great tasting food. the simplicity is the best. just grab and go! Smug's Should Be Smug!
While Smug's pizza (Eureka or Arcata) is not the best pizza I've ever had, it ranks quite high in my book. For a little hole-in-the-wall, and by no means a dive, they put forth a quality product for a great price! Because it is so small, there is only one register, so of course, the service may not be what some are used to, but coming from a small, rural town, what do you expect?! I thought that the service, even last week during a busy payday Friday noon lunchtime, was awesome! The folks are friendly and patient with your overwhelming choices.
