Great Italian dining
We first visited the lovely town of Cambria, California during a summer, CA coastal vacation in July of 2000. We decided to try Mustache Pete's and since then, it has become the benchmark which we rate all of our Italian dining experiences. Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere and a great staff. The Chicken Marsala was a complete surprise and we haven't found anything that comes close unless we make it ourselves. They use a dry Marsala verses a sweet Marsala. Many other Italian restaurants choose to make the sauce using the sweet wine which, when reduced, becomes nothing more than "Golden Griddle" pancake syrup. We prefer the dry version as this makes for superior sauce that better complements the chicken and mushrooms. Every couple of years we venture down the coast from Seattle and we make it a point to visit Mustache Pete's anytime we are in Cambria. Hope you can try it too!    [22 Dec 2003 16:15:09]
