Served family style in the hotel dining room across from the Amtrak station. There will be far more food than you can possibly consider eating!

None of the food is outstanding or fancy; this was a traditional boarding house for the Basque workers, who wanted to eat a lot of good food after a long day's work. That is exactly what you'll get.    [25 Feb 2000 02:50:17]

No place in the world does simple fried chicken (no batter) better.

Ambiance is not fancy. Historic back bar, but the dining room is mostly unadorned.    [11 Feb 2001 22:33:44]

T.D.'s Brass Tacks Restaurant Review
Read "Anonymous'" first line in the review above. It just can't be said any better.

The combination of the greatest fried chicken ever, more food than you could probably imagine eating, and friendly service in a great historic old place that really gives you a taste of "old Fresno" all come together at the Santa Fe Basque.

Please don't come here expecting hoity-toity. Do come here expecting heavy duty American/Basque value (for just $8.95 if you go for the chicken).

The Santa Fe has the Brass Tacks Stamp of Approval firmly affixed, and we can hardly wait to go back!    [18 Feb 2001 21:53:36]
