What a Disappointment!
We were treated to this restaurant by two distinguished ladies who had eaten here many times, one of whom had hosted her son's wedding rehearsal dinner here. Upon arrival we were seated in a booth for four. Our waitress brought us a bottle of wine, but only brought three glasses. It took 15 minutes for us to get a fourth glass for our table, and we had to track down another waiter to do so. Meanwhile, the table next to us apparently were VIP's -- friends of the owners. Our same waitress was fawning all over them, offering them all sorts of VIP services, including free upgrades to their meal, excellent service, and free desserts and after-dinner drinks. We, meanwhile, were ignored. Our appetizer plates and our salad plates sat on the table for close to 15 minutes each. I almost felt the need to bus our own table. Eventually our hostesses expressed their disappointment to several other waiters and then to our waitress herself. She became very belligerent and said, "If you have a problem with the service, you can take it up with the hostess at the front desk." Apparently, there was no manager on duty in the entire restaurant. It's bad enough to give the back of your hand to your dedicated clientele, but to have no manager present is beyond belief. The liability alone is a serious problem for this business. What if a waiter spilled hot soup on a customer? Or if someone fell? Or if there were a fire? The hostess told us to "call the manager at 9 a.m. in the morning!" Hold onto your hats, Redlands! Clara's is OUT OF CONTROL!    [12 Sep 2007 22:07:55]
