A real surprise! We had just arrived in San Diego and wanted to get dinner. Since we had just driven seven hours we wanted something close to the hotel, and the Dao Son happened to be across the street. We figured that this will be better than the Denny's so we stopped in. Yes, indeedy, it was better than Denny's, much better.
Starting off with fresh rolls, these were good, but had a bit too much cilantro. Followed by a huge order of mixed vegetables and tofu, and an even larger order of Vietnamese vermacelli, we left full. Very full. Both main dishes were good, although the vermicelli had a bit too many leafy vegetables for our tastes. The tofu dish was great, and ordering it medium was just right (although the waitress lowered that to mild/medium). Spicy enough to give it a bite, but not so much that it causes pain. []

Awesome, Cheap, and Great Taste Definitely my favorite place to eat. If you like things *really* spicy, make sure you get medium. I always get garlic chicken (excellent) or Tasty Red (everyone's fav). [20 Aug 2003 22:06:14]
