Les Tourist Trap? Fatigue clouded our judgment when we picked a random restaurant close to our hotel for dinner. The jazz group was just setting up and the music drew us in. It was pleasant, but nothing special. It turned out to be the highlight of our experience.
The seats were uncomfortable and the service was perfunctory and slow. We ordered steaks and they were obviously of poor quality. The texture was unpleasant and it was slightly overcooked from my request for medium rare. The bearnaise was gloppy and almost flavorless. I scraped it off. The potato was gluey.
The prices are a bit steep, but I have to admit that I was so tired that I didn't even bother to complain. The lack of pride, service, and culinary skill made me think that it wouldn't be worth it. [05 Apr 2007 18:10:45]
