Good Roman Italian We discovered Lupa recently while walking around Noe Valley. We were lucky to get in without a reservation. We were greeted by friendly waiters with charming Italian accents. The menu is typical of a Roman trattoria. I really enjoyed the grilled radicchio appetizer and hand made ravioli. I like that Lupa is casual and relaxed and easy to talk and hear each other. Great local Italian I met up with several friends at Lupa Trattoria last night and we all left very happy. I started with a blood orange and fennel salad and then had the mushroom risotto - bother excellent choices and the risotto was surprisingly light and flavorful. They have a nice range of pastas, meat dishes and salads. Nice intimate place with great service. [30 Jan 2005 19:07:42]

About time to have something authentic in the neighborhood Finally something that is authentically Italian in the neighborhood! While there are some great California-Italian restaurants in town, there are very few places that really taste like you are eating in Rome. Lupa is one of these. Knockouts to me: the fennel and blood orange salad, the shrimp and arugula risotto, which is cooked just right (a little texture and bite to the rice, but still creamy), the bucatini amatriciana, and the homemade bread. The waiters (all Italian) are great and welcoming. The ambience is casual and unpretentious. [31 Jan 2005 13:13:41]

Great pasta! I have been to Lupa before and always had great meals. Last night, I had the fettucine gamberri and it was amazing - pasta cooked perfectly and the shrimp very fresh in a light spicy tomato based sauce. Still tasting it now! [15 Jun 2005 20:02:49]
