Description
As much a pub as a restaurant, Hardy's Bavaria offers hearty German food in downtown Sunnyvale. More unusual dishes include venison and goulash. Meals come with soup, bread, and salad.
Eclectic, somewhat kitschy decor - cuckoo clocks, country-style painted decorations, framed quotes, and the like line the walls.

Ausgezeichnet! From the wide selection of German beers and wines to the delicious Bavarian food, Hardy's is the closest place to Munich you'll find on this side of the Rhine. The meats are fork-tender and the sauces are complementary but not overpowering. If you don't like sauerkraut or red cabbage, you haven't tried Hardy's! [30 May 2003 20:03:41]

Best Bavarian I've had I was introduced to the place by a German friend.
The food there is fantastic. They have the best sauerkraut you'll ever taste. The dishes are all quite delicious.
The beer is fantastic. They usually have a wide selection of great beers like what you'd get at a microbrewery.
The service (during lunch) is haphazard. The staff is friendly and helpful, but they seem to be rather disorganized. Several times, I've gotten the bill for someone else's table. Often you don't get the bill for a loooong time (maybe European culture). But despite these, I keep going back because the food is just that good! [27 May 2004 21:59:22]

Slow slow I arrived at about 11:30 am. There were no other customers. I gave my order immediately. 25 minutes later, there was no food. This has happened a number of times before. I'll not go back, even though I like the food. [15 Aug 2006 19:03:35]

They denied me service after 10 years of patronage! Hardy's was my favorite restaurant ever since I can remember (at least 10 years). I've been going there for all my birthdays, celebrations, ect; spending at least $80 for two people at dinner, and $25 takeout for myself during my visits. The staff know my parents by name due to their continual patronage also. To my suprise, I WAS DENIED SERVICE today. When I first walked into the restaurant I was ignored (there were 2 people sitting at the bar and only two tables were occupied with customers). Finally after a few minutes of just standing there while other customers were greeted coming in after me, I was asked how I may be assisted. I stated I would like to order food to go. After the woman shuffled around some papers, she approached me and whispered that they do not do "To Go" orders! I can't even begin to explain the shock after recommending and bring a good amount of business to the establishment throughout the years! I have never been denied service in my life and do not recommend anyone to visit a place where they pick and chose who they serve - the drive over with todays gas prices would just be a waste of your time to see if they are willing to serve you or not. I highly doubt after ten years of service myself and now my family will ever return or recommend such a place. [08 Sep 2006 00:48:03]
