Don't feel like cooking? Take a quick hop to Bailey's Family Restaurant Every local in Covina knows the building that keeps changing names. At present, it is named Bailey's Family Restaurant, before it was Magic Recipe and in the future who knows! However, the one thing the locals know is that the service staff has remained the same and the food has varied little. While the restaurant's name and owners change constantly, the restaurant-located across the I-10 freeway by the Grand Ave. exit-has always been a comfort zone for locals and anyone who is sick of Denny's and similar franchise eateries. The service is not slow but there is an aura about the place which permeates through you to slow down and enjoy your meal. If you happen to be seated by the window in a booth you can feel time stop similar to the Edward Hopper painting "Night Hawks".
Dinner, thought decent, is not the sparkle of this jewel. It is breakfast. Hearty stacks of pancakes, slabs of ham, fingers of sausages and strips of bacon make up a typical Bailey's breakfast. Most notable is the broiled pork chop breakfast. It blows away the contemporary notion of the morning meal. [25 Jun 2004 05:46:19]

Oliver
Sorry Oliver Oliver...first off let me say that I did not eat breakfast so I cannot comment on the dishes you dined on. But I did have the Monte Cristo sandwich.........
In a word, that sandwich was inedible. Old, dried out ham, lifeless turkey and some sort of Velvetta cheeze wizz instead of the classic Swiss. Aweful. Horrible. What is my proof? The fact that the bread was old and soaked in oil. either the fryer was not up to temp of the cook left the sandwich in tooooooooo long. Anyway, the egg bread was black and soaked from the old oil. Say no more.
The service...glacier like. We had three different waiters...for what? This place has a long way to go in terms of being a stable, solid diner.
Want a good MC? go to Carrows on Azusa. Dense, thich with meat and above all....fresh ingredients.
Again....my apologies Oliver....this place needs a lot of work.

dinner the home made vegetable soup is a favorite at this restaurant- a nice portion to go with your dinner- which i would suggest the barbecue rib and chicken- a popular dinner choice because of the amount of food on your plate you will be satisfied more then you expected- and then you will be taking the balance home to eat since there is so much, and at $5.99 its a truly worth its weight in gold [17 Oct 2005 23:56:13]

Good Food A group of us, about 15, eat brunch here every week. We had a couple of gripes (too warm in our area, extra charge for substitutions), so we tried another local place. We came back. The food is so good at Bailey's, it's worth overlooking the problems. [24 Jun 2007 20:15:05]

Hey, Anonymous!! I don't know what restaurant you ate at, but you sure didn't describe the Bailey's I know.
The food is great, portions are large, the service is very good and the prices are very reasonable.
The BBQ Chicken and Ribs is the best bargain in town and the Roasted Turkey Dinner is a sight to behold.
I eat there often, it's GREAT!! [22 Jul 2007 14:34:32]
