The Best In Crested Butte!
My wife and I have been visiting Crested Butte for the past 12 years. The area is some of the most beautiful in the United States. We recently had the pleasure to dine at one of the newest restaurants in the town, Crave Cajun Restaurant. The food is fantastic. We have had "cajun" cooking at other places outside Louisiana, and all fell way short to the true standards of Cajun cuisine. All but one. The owner / chef has one of the most unique menus I've had the pleasure to dine from. We started off with an appetizer of crab salad on fried green tomatoes. Truely Fabulous. Then my wife had the Blackend Snapper. Most "chef's" over spice blackening seasoning and call it cajun, when it's really burnt. That was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever tasted! I had the Alligator dish. I've never had "gator" before. Man have I been missing out. The chef prepared it over grit cakes and toppped it with a ratatouille. This could simple be one of the best meals we have ever had. And to top off the meal we had a piece of a flourless chocolate cake that was prepared by the pastry chef (who happens to be the chef's wife). It was by far one of the best desserts. The server, Liz, was extremely friendly and knowledgable, also! As frequent visitors to the Crested Butte area, we have but only one suggestion as where to eat, Crave Restaurant.    [13 Jun 2007 00:58:16]
