if you're not a local don't bother with this place
I regret writing this, but felt I must. My fiance and I decided to spend a weekend in Crested Butte. We had a fabulous time, except for one experience we had at this particular bar. We got a room in town and decided to go out bar hopping. We tend to dress up when we go out and usually spend a considerable amount of money. We ended our night at Talk of the Town and a half hour before last call (and over a hundred dollars later) we were standing at a table near the juke box when one of the nasty bartenders came over and grabbed our full beers we had just bought and threw them in the trash. We felt this to be terribly rude and confronted him on it. He raged on about how we needed to leave immediately and would not replace our beers stating he had called last call. This was untrue and the bar was still hopping with all the locals. We feel we got singled out because we were tourists and not of the normal clientele of the establishment. We're not snobby, we enjoy our nights out drinking and we tip well. This was extremely uncalled for and we recommend if you're from out of town not to go here. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants in Crested Butte (many in which we enjoyed and were treated wonderfully) that are better than Talk of the Town.    [12 Jul 2004 14:12:42]
