Best Pasta and Pizza in Town!
Greg Durrett and his brother Anthony set this place up way back in the early 80s, using recipes that their mother brought over from Italy. The ambiance is pure Italian bistro... but the prices are affordable and the owner(s) aren't afraid to come out from behind the bar and chitchat. It's a short walk across the bridge from the hot springs pool, and right in the heart of downtown, in the basement (!!) of a small commercial/retail building (thus the name).

Don't miss Greg's cannolis - these are made of an Italian sausage and a green chile, using his own sausage recipe, wrapped up in house pizza dough and baked into a roll. He'll serve one up as an appetizer, or set you a couple served up on a bed of pasta with the house meat sauce as an entree. He also serves up a mean chicken cacciatore, and you can't miss on the salads, pizzas, or the obligatory sherbet or spumoni ice cream to finish off the meal. Best Italian Restaurant on the Western Slope
I am very prejudice since I have known Greg for over 60 years. I grant you his Italian food is only slightly better than my wife's. The sausage is a recipe from one of his uncles. One of the great things I always look forward to when I drop in in the morning is to watch them prepare the bread dough and wait until the first loaves are out and sample at least one.    [15 Nov 2007 18:48:28]
