Don't go! I was sorely disappointed the first and only time I visited the Savoy for dinner. After my husband and I walked in and were seated, we were told that there were no steaks left that evening (it was about 7pm in the evening.)
It took ten minutes for the one waiter (for the whole room) to get our water. Bread bowls were distributed in a pattern that was indiscernible, or you had to ask for one. We were not one of the lucky ones, and we made it a game to see if we would ever get one at all without asking.
I ordered ravioli with marinara sauce and my husband ordered chicken parm. My ravioli were FRIED and the chicken not cooked through. At that point having waited for so long for our meals, we just ate what we could and left.
We feel bad that our meals and the service were so bad. This is a comparatively new restaurant in area of town that needs business and revitalization badly.
Ultimately, I called the manager, (who had been out the infamous night)to complain and let him know about our experience. I don't know how much he'll take from it, I know he was shocked when I told him about the "no steak" comment. What bothers me is that he argued with me about my meal. He said he helped create the menu and there was no ravioli with marinara sauce on the menu. And they Should have been fried (like the appitizer)I replied I paid $14.00 for my meal and that didn't sound like an appetizer to me.
Then: "Oh, here's the Ravioli, under the Pasta section."
So, never again. [06 Jun 2006 16:57:30]
