nice enough Nice enough ambiance, but not outstanding.
Both my husband and I felt the meal was over priced. The food did have a nice presentation, but the taste was nothing special. There are many other places that you will pay the same price, and have a better meal, with better service. [22 Dec 2005 14:57:34]

Expectations not met I have been to France many times and this restaurant does not live up to the expectation I would have of French cuisine. From the "pate`" to the dessert everything was definitely spelled French on the menu` but the taste, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. They tried to compensate the lack of quality with big quantity in our plate and that left enough to feed our dog for the next of couple days. Hopefully she enjoyed more than we did. Overall, the only thing for which this restaurant can be call French is its attractive name: "Restaurante du village". It is too bad that the small portion of delicate tasty food and the nice and creative presentation of the plates typical of the French cuisine, is left somewhere, overseas.

My Favorite Restaurant I was so surprised to read the negative reviews. Du Village is about as French as you can get. Their prices are very reasonable when compared to other CT French restaurants (Thomas Hincklemann's in Greenwich or Cavey's in Manchester) and while the portions are enough, they are never what you could call huge.(so I don't know how one would have enough to bring home and feed their dog for days). They are enough to enjoy and let you walk away without feeling you're about to burst. Having lived in France for a few years, my brother-in-law was impressed by the preparation and quality of the dishes.
It is the restaurant we choose to celebrate special occasions. We generally make 3 or 4 trips to dine there a year and I have never had a bad meal there. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the owners/chefs are continually tweaking the menu to make sure everything is perfect.
I would not hesitate to recommend du Village to anyone. [17 Apr 2008 22:48:16]

Terrific, authentic French cuisine I would wager a substantial sum of money that the author of the "Expectations not met" review has never stepped foot in the Restaurant du Village. I love how they don't mention any specific dish.
Everything about this restaurant is classic country French, including (especially!) the chef-owner. The wine list is substantial and the cocktails are always well made. Literally everything is good...especially the bread, made every morning on-premise. [03 Jul 2008 17:42:09]
