Be determined If you are determined enough to find the Blue Oar you will be rewarded with a wonderful river front view and some very good food. You must walk upstairs to order your food from a large blackboard on the wall. Cash only. You then grab your drinks and head for a table on the porch or the outdoor patio. You have a number on your table that will tell the servers where to deliver your meal. We had burgers, salad, chowder and a turkey wrap all very good. There are no sides with the burgers so if you want potato salad or chips you need to order it. I had a nice mandarin salad and chowder and it was very good and the salad was larger than I expected. We went at lunch and had a minimal wait, I have heard that weekend nights are packed and an hour wait is not unheard of. It may be hard to find but it is no secret. This is a seasonal restaurant so get there before October. Try to save room for dessert, the choices are amazing! [13 Aug 2006 23:33:57]

I've enjoyed dinner at the Blue Oar practically every other weekend this summer, and plan to keep going until they close in October..Food is fabulous, staff is young and on the ball...I'm crazy about the BYOB---Keeps my tab a bit lower, so I can tip the waitstaff even better...They deserve it !
Burgers are excellent, everyone goes nuts for the ribs, but my two favorites this year are the guacamole w/fried chips or the calamari salad appetizers !!!! Also---location, location, location !! [15 Sep 2007 15:33:56]

We like the Blue Oar and go there frequently because of its on-the- water outdoor location, moderate prices, BYO policy, and funky vibe.
The food is generally good. I had the ribs last week and thought they were quite good, but a little overcooked. The burgers are always very good. The chicken sandwiches suffer from a fairly small piece of chicken, but are otherwise pretty good. The specials, which often include one or more seafood dishes, steak, pork and other forays into semi-fine dining tend to be a litte uneven. Some can be great, others can disappoint. The specials generally cost $18-20, which is not bad, but for my money, I generally stick with a burger or sandwich.
They have a good selection of gourmet soft drinks, but no beer or wine, so bring your own.
Check the weather forecast before you go. We got caught in a storm once right as our food was arriving and there is not much you can do except take your plates to your car and eat there. [20 Sep 2007 12:05:32]
