The no-frills review, or What We Ate VISIT ONE: Spouse wanted the jambalaya, but they had run out. Instead, he had the apple-and-raisin stuffed french toast with cream cheese and the tasso (a Mexican breakfast thing, stuffed in a burrito), both of which he thought were excellent. I tried some of the french toast and agreed.
I had eggs and bacon. The eggs were quite good and the home fries were nice and crispy. The bacon was the only unsatisfactory bit -- it was just not very good quality, although the bacon served with Nick's tasso was fine.
The staff were friendly and attentive. Word has it the locals line up for breakfast, but we got there not long before closing, and were able to get a seat.
VISIT TWO: Spouse finally got his jambalaya, which was (a) excellent, and (b) not a classic jambalaya, but rather a jambalaya-inspired breakfasty thing. I had more french toast, which was as good as I remembered. And the friend we dragged with us had a salmon special which was astonishingly good. [16 Oct 2005 14:06:48]
