J. Timothys is a Plainville and Central Ct landmark, and it has certainly earned that reputation. J. Timothy's is an old tavern that used to serve canal travelers in the days of the Farmington Canal. The atmosphere is that of an old inn- there is a large and gracious bar area, complete with a loft and exposed beams. It is a popular place any day or night of the week, especially on Fridays. The bar food is substancial and good- the wings have been voted the best in the area, the onion rings and potato skins are very good. J. Timothy's, in addition to the seasonal brews, has seasonal drinks, my favorite of the summer months was the peach cosmopolitan. You can get the full menu at the bar- but if you want a nice dinner, the dining room is the place to be, with 2 large fireplaces and windsor chairs, the atmosphere is a warm one, and you feel like you are back in 1776.The dinner menu is American food- chicken pot pie, meatloaf- hearty New england food, along with some chicken sandwiches. It is not a large menu, but it is a very good one. J. Timothy's is a bit pricey- between $15-20 for an entree, $8-12 for a sandwich. The dinners come with a standard garden salad and a baked potato and veggies, the sandwiches come with fries. Everything comes with a loaf of fresh baked bread. It is worth the price though- they just remodeled, but they kept the tavern/ inn ambiance- but they now have a take out area and seating. Very good food. [07 Nov 2006 14:00:23]

Great Wings, Great Service I am an avid wings lover, but am often skeptical when someone tells me that they're taking me to the place with the best wings ever, or even just the best wings in the state. I've been to more establishments than I can count for wings in at least 7 states including the famous Anchor bar. Anyway, these wings were amazing! The service was fast and friendly and the beer selection was good. These are probably the best wings I've had so far anywhere. Keep up the good work. [31 May 2008 10:04:36]
