Description

Located on the first floor of the Millenium Builing, Teatro is bedecked in harlequin colors: streamers, masks, lamps, and candystriped columns, befitting its name. The Venetian food, even the silverware, is presented to diners theatrically; the elevated kitchen provides center stage. Given its location and prices, the dark-suited K Street crowd dominates.

Digital City Listing - Digital City - suggest change
With the closing of Osteria Goldoni early last year, chef/owner Fabrizio Aielli may have lost a restaurant, but he gained an expanded clientele and a new chef for Teatro Goldoni. - Washingtonian, Robert Shoffner, 1 January 2003 - suggest change

Disappointing ...
We tried this restaurant during DC Dining Week, and were sorely disappointed. The salmon entre was horribly overcooked -- dry and tasteless, served with cold cucumbers. A tortellini entre was basically out of a can ... topped with a bland bolognese meat sauce without herbs or spices. We sent our plates back half eaten. It would be trivial to do much better at home -- not what we expect at an upscale DC eatery.

The tomato mozzarella caprese appetizer was OK -- although the description said 'heirloom tomatoes' but instead were basic cherry tomatoes, and the chocolate tortino dessert was tasty. The wine list is very expensive. Service was excellent. Tables for 2 were crowded, elbow to elbow.    [08 Aug 2007 09:13:04]
