Runyon's Not What It Once Was
I have been going to Runyon's for the last 14 years. It has always been a special place, with tremendous service, and fabulous food, and I love the steaks. However, the last few times I have been disappointed there. The service is spotty, and the kitchen is not always attentive to the desires of the customer. Just as an example, my wife ordered a filet mignon, butterfly cut, cooked medium. It came to us rare. We sent it back, and Joe himself brought it back to use from the kitchen - it was still rare. My Dad's steak and mine were reversed - he got mine and vice-versa. A potato ordered with only butter was delivered with a large gob of sour cream.

The steaks (at least the ribeyes) were still superb, but I expect more from a place like this. I think that Runyon's lost it's edge.    [05 Mar 2007 22:18:40]
