THE WORST RESTAURANT Ten of us went to the restaurant after the dance recital of my brother's 2 daughters. The waitress/server was not particularly interested in being cordial, welcoming us to Bimini Boatyard. She either suffered from a bad case of attitude or just lacked any personality whatsoever. Drink orders were taken; appetizers were ordered. I ordered a mojito, as did my brother. The server told us that they were out of mint but they could make it with the sugar and lemon juice. Huh? I asked if we could have two orders of that Bimini Bread we've heard so much about. (This site claims that this restaurant is known for its Bimini Bread.) Being a Californian, I was not familiar with this local goodness and was anxious to see what it was all about. Forget it! They don't have any. The baker hasn't been making it. Okay, so we move on to order the entrees. 23 minutes after the entrees were ordered we were assured that they were forthcoming. I got a crabcake salad as did 3 other members of our group. 5 crabcake salads were delivered to the table. Two members of our group got hot entrees. The rest got other salads and kids meals. The two hot entrees were cold...as in COLD. The server made many excuses for what might have happened, none of which were satisfactory. The salads were satisfactory. The kids' meals were suitably warm. We had had such a bad experience to this point, my brother, the host, talked to the manager. The server left us to the hands of someone else. The manager was not about to budge as to why the food was cold. After sending it back to the kitchen, it did come out warm and tasty. When the check arrived, we asked for boxes to take the salads home. We were told we could take the extra crab salad that was delivered inadvertently. After waiting for the boxes, we were told later that if the food wasn't good enough to eat there at the restaurant, they would not give us boxes to take it home. I have never in my whole life heard of anything so ridiculous. We did not complain about the quality of their food; only the service of it. We left very angry at being treated so unreasonably. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I hope they go out of business before they ruin some other family's celebratory dinner. [06 Jun 2004 21:32:54]
