The Best Thai in Jacksonville Where to start? I discovered this place about two years ago aftyer having been to all of the other Thai restaurants in Jax and Gainesville where I live. The owner, Ora, could not be more friendly and accomodating. They do absolutely the best Tom Ka Ghai soup, I've ever had, with a perfect melange of coconut milk, kaffir lime, galangal root and chicken - this is my litmus test for good thai. Then there is my usual - the pork salad or the beef salad, the Yom Nuer. They are the absolute perfect taste. My other love here is their fresh spring roll with cilantro, rice noodle, cilantro, mint, and just a touch of pork with either sweet garlic sauce, or a really ethereal dipping sauce of rice vinegar, palm sugar, garlic and ground peanuts...I've been trying to make this sauce for the last year. This is an absolute must stop if you like Asian cuisine. [25 Nov 2002 20:58:48]

The absolute best Thai food I've ever had I have been to Thai restaurants all over this country and the best by far is Taste of Thai in Jacksonville. With their wonderful food and friendly staff, you simply cannot go wrong dining in this superb restaurant! I absolutely love their pork dumplings and spring rolls, along with their awesome pad thai, the best I have ever had. You have to try their chicken stir fried with peanut sauce, and their chicken with basil. Once you've had it, you will always crave their food. With a great staff who make you feel like a member of their cozy family, this is a restaurant you will want to return to again and again. [08 Dec 2003 19:49:35]

Jacksonville's Favorite Secret is not a secret anymore I like to think I have a feel on the places to go in town that are the hot spots to eat are in town. Boy was I wrong. I've lived in Jacksonville for four years and I missed the best kept secret in J-ville-Taste of Thai! I never knew such a popular restaurant could be in such a small place. It seems like anybody who "REALLY" knows Jacksonville is no stranger to this little powerhouse. If you want see and be seen, this IS the place. From the outside of the restaurant it looks like any old restaurant in town. A simple plain neon sign. Inside is a virtual who's who of Jacksonville society. But this is not the only reason I was awe struck. The staff immediately made me feel at home with a warm hello and a genuine smiles. The staff was on a first name basis with everybody in the restaurant and they were quick to be on a first name basis with me. I felt like I was at another home. My server's name was Justin. He has a genuinely warm and honest personality. His knowledge of the menu made me feel like I was in good hands, so I went with his recommendation, Chicken in Chili Oil for me and Beef Salad for my Coworker. I was hooked. By far the best Thai restaurant in town and as far as Im concerned in the whole counrty. That's a pretty big statement considering I travel aroung that I travel around the counrty for a living. I always make it a point to stop at every city's Thai restaurant. We are lucky to have ths best in our town. I was so plesed with the meal I came back to eat the next day. It was really busy, but nobody seemed to mind waiting. I was served by a female waitress who did another outstanding job waiting on us. Justin recognized us and we took his advice on what to eat this time. Chicken Red Curry and the whole Basil Fish! WOW! His mother Orathai(the owner)came to the table to check on our table, she is the sweetest woman. She remembered my name from that day on and so did Justin and the waitress. Amazing how from just two visits they remembered my name my coworkers name and what we ate and drank. I could go on and on but you NEED to experience what authentic thai cuisine and authentic thai people are like. Thai people are famous for their hospiality and friendliness. Taste of Thai wont let you down. [02 Mar 2004 09:20:33]

This IS the only Thai restaurant to go to PERIOD! This restaurant is the reason mom and pop restaurants are the fabric of our culinary society. Taste of Thai puts on a clinic to all of the other thai restaurants on how thai food should be prepared. From the fantastic food and the friendliest staff in town, this IS this place to see and be seen. The who's who of J-ville come to this cozy place. Long story short...if you miss an opportunity to visit this jewel of a restaurant, then you are missing what a thai restaurant should be! [04 Feb 2005 01:13:31]

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING
I HAVE LIVED IN THAILAND AND ALSO EATEN IN MANY THAI RESTAURANTS IN FLORIDA. THIS PLACE IS SIMPLY AVERAGE. THE OWNER TALKED BEHIND MY BACK "IF YOU CAN'T SPEAK THAI WHY TRY". WHEN WE CAME IN THE PLACE WE WERE NOT GREETED AND HAD TO FIND OUR OWN PLACE; SUCH SERVICE.
THE FOOD WAS SIMPLY AVERAGE. I WOULD NOT RETURN. IF YOU WANT REAL THAI FOOD EVEN MUCH BETTER THERE ARE SOME REAL CHOICES IN ORLANDO, BUT I PITY YOU PEOPLE IN JACKSONVILLE WHO CAN REALLY SAY "THE BEST". [08 Apr 2006 22:22:20]
