Terribel service and so-so food July 1, 2006. We just had lunch at the Oyster House. I had one of their special sandwiches of the day and my wife had a simple cold sandwich. Mine came with soup. It took at least one half of an hour to get the food to the table and then they forgot to serve my soup. The food was either average or below average for the price. We live here in the area and will not be going back for a while. [01 Jul 2006 14:27:22]

Awesome Old School Seafood Joint I love this place, we always go here when we are near Matlacha. They have excellent traditional seafood along with steaks, prime rib, chicken, salads, ribs and oysters of course. They have a tiki hut with live music on the water! The specials are always good and the cocktails are priced well and delicious! This place has a little something for everyone. We bring the whole family! [13 Sep 2006 11:51:01]

Used to be my favorite restaurant. My family went out of town. I had been cleaning all day. I decided I wanted my favorite treat... oysters from The Matlacha Oyster House.
Needed the phone number, stumbled across this site... called; Karen was rude on the phone, screwed up my order, didn't give me my change (looked at me over her shoulder and went on to wait on others, never even offering change from my $20. ...) and the oysters were dinky! Warning Happy Hour is between 3 and 6pm... evidently not a Happy time for Karen....
My husband and I frequent this restaurant often and usually have good service and good food. We've celebrated Anniversaries and Birthdays there as well as taking our out of town guests there. I am willing to give going there another chance but take out.... never again.
Rated food on past experiences.... [28 Apr 2007 17:13:22]

Terrible Food We had family visiting so decided to try the place again after a 3 year hiatus. Two of the three people who had crab legs did not pay for their meals due to the fact the crab was inedible. My daughter was given a pair of scissors to cut her crab legs and my niece sent hers back since they were ice cold and when they were returned to her she could tie them into a bow it was so soft. One of the pasta dishes had some type of grit (felt like beach sand) and my Shrimp Scampi had an odd, nasty taste. Could not eat it and only one out of seven meals was edible; and only four out of seven paid for their meals.
The manager gave us two complimentary desserts, but it did not make up for the terrible food. All in all a major disappointment and will NEVER go there again. [25 Jul 2007 08:19:51]

Terrible Oysters! I love oysters and couldn't wait to eat here. So for $15.95 you get this small steel bowl (maybe cup size) with the smallest fried oysters I've ever seen. It was all breading... which wasn't even flavorful. Once you peel off the breading, the oysters were about the size of your thumbnail... NO JOKE, and tasteless! Very slow service and not the cleanest either. I did enjoy the water view and karaoke looked fun... BUT... Very disappointing after looking forward to trying this restaurant. [23 Aug 2007 16:41:24]
