A Wonderful Dining Experience We recently ate at the Village Cafe in Miami Shores with 16 people. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. Several people had the rack of lamb, some a chicken dish and others the fish of the day, salmon. All of the dinners including any appetizers (especially the eggplant) were cooked to perfection, served all together and steaming hot. It was a very nice evening. I would recommend this restaurant to all. [30 Dec 2003 16:49:40]

I took my daughters there for their birthday. Five people were in the party. I had the salmon with shrimp, another had the salmon with crab. Everyone agreed that it was the best food in the 15 birthdays we celebrated at area restaurants. [03 Feb 2007 17:21:28]

I'm a regular If you make it for lunch time, try the French ham & brie panini. Best lunch you can get for the money, hands down!
For dinner, I usually get the gnocchi, or when its on special (several days every week), the chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta. [20 Mar 2007 13:40:33]

Great food Love their Angus burgers and gnocchi! Great ambiance too: Safe, friendly and never over crowded. Highly recommended over other over priced restaurants on the Beach or anywhere in the Miami Metro area!If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out. [28 Mar 2007 15:58:21]

Below average Small portions unless it's rice. Overcooked as often as not. Lots of salt. I wish this place was good because I live in Miami Shores, but it's not. I've eaten here about 6 times in 3+ years; always hoping it's going to be better. These other reviews had to be written by shills. I've had duck, salmon, veal, and pasta and they're average at best. I will say the service is always very good. Drive up Biscayne and go to a good restaurant. [06 Apr 2007 23:39:21]

Decent Food, Seriously Overproced I've been to the Village Cafe three now, can't say I'm impressed. I've heard all sorts of talk about how they have the best paninies and frankly I didn't share the opinion. I've also had the Margarita pizza, not so good either.
However, the chicken piccata was awesome, as were the masked garlic potatoes. Only problem was the cost. After looking at the menu, my date and I decided to share a meal. We shared a plate of the chicken and he had a bowl of soup. We ended up paying about $30 for the evening, not worth it. [09 Apr 2007 16:35:39]

Try it for yourself I have lived in Miami Shores for 10 years and have seen the Village Cafe go thru several incarnations, including an ice cream parlor. I will say I have had better food but ONLY in very expensive restaurants. And rarely have experienced service this good anywhere in the world...except maybe the Lodge at Lake Lure, NC. And the food is very very tasty for the price. Try the eggplant appetizer, The Duck is almost always good...sometimes a little over cooked. But the pasta dishes are always perfecto as well as the fish specials. Rarely can a neighborhood restaurant achieve consistent service at this level and food this tastey for the price.
Kudos to the newest owner for maintaining the quality set by previous one. Maybe just a little more variety in specials list would be nice for the regular customers like myself. [04 May 2007 17:42:53]

GOOD PLACE, GREAT FOOD I've been there several times. Always a good experience. The food is great and the service is very good. As soon as the servers know you, they'll wait for you with your usual drinks or will recommend a dish they think you might like! Pricy? Don't think so,compared to other places I've been to... but everybody knows its budget...
RECOMMENDED. [09 Jul 2007 10:57:10]
