Poor food, poor service
I've heard a lot of nice reviews from "locals" that the Aloha Diner was good. I can officially say that the food is terrible if you are a non-local. I had the saimin, which was very salty. The lomi lomi salmon did not have any salmon, except for a few pieces. The Kahlua pork was dry. My friend who lives on the island said I got the "howlie" treatment. Aloha has Aloha
The best in local grinds. Pipikaula, Squid luau, homemade poi, and sweet kulolo are some of the signature items. Don't order the tripe stew unless you are a connoisseur of "tripe". The service is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. A must for those seeking an education in local food.    [25 Oct 2003 01:32:00]
