Hukilau Cafe I love the Hukilau Cafe, it is just 6 houses from where I live. We love the french toast and omelets for breakfast. Our town wouldn't be the same without it. It does get busy on Saturday mornings. [28 Sep 2003 20:50:46]

Ono Kine Grindz I was born in Hawaii, but I now live in Utah. I love coming back to the islands and eating at the Hukilau Cafe. The service is fast, and the food is sooo ono. Mahalo [23 Jun 2005 23:32:53]

Which is worse: the food, or the service? I ate at Hukilau Café and the food was terrible and the service was even worse.
On my first and last visit to Hukilau Café, I had pancakes and had already eaten half of them when a horse fly plopped out of my syrup bottle onto the stack. My wife almost gagged. I calmly tried to speak to the “manager” to lodge my complaint. The lady was indescribably curt and rude, and never apologized or attempted to remedy the situation. Suppressing the urge to gag, I spat the lingering syrup residue that the fly had been marinating in, onto my plate. The reprobate “manager” audaciously screamed at me in front of all of the customers to “beat it.” Her reaction could have been understandable (but not excusable) had I spat in a belligerent manner, but I had done so very discretely, being motivated by the repulsiveness of the thought of the fly remnants that I had ingested and not by a desire to offend her. My wife and I were appalled at the entire situation and promptly walked out. The manager dramatically continued to scream from across the restaurant, and to our surprise, when we were about 4 yards out the shabby screen door, we heard yell that she would be looking for me and that I should “watch [my] back.”
I do not understand how a business like this could be allowed to operate in Hawaii, or any of the 50 states for that matter. Furthermore, I am dismayed that a business would employ a person of such a poor caliber in a management position. My personal recommendation is to avoid this rundown business at all cost. (FYI- it is not the Hukilau Café from the movie Fifty First Dates.) [16 Sep 2006 17:49:36]

Hukilau Cafe Hukilau Cafe is one of the best places I've eat that has very delicious foods, great service (not to mention the good warm welcome I had, it was my first time there and I was treated like I was one of their regulars)not only is the food the best, but the prices are also affordable. I eat a fried rice omlet with a side order of corn beef hash, and let me just tell you it's the BEST I've ever had! HUKILAU CAFE is the BEST!!! [05 Oct 2007 01:18:56]
