Luquin's has been in business several years in a quaint old hotel & has developed quite a diverse menu. Along with Mexican dishes with an island twist, they also offer burgers, steak, fried chicken & have a full bar- try a lilikoi margarita !    [20 Jul 2003 15:50:45]

Not the stellar place of the area.
Coming from the Southwest, Moab, Utah, exactly, we have sampled much Mexican food. One does not expect Pahoa, Hawaii to have great Mexican food. Luquin's is mediocre, but well done. I could say the same for every Mexican place in Utah, so this is not really a very negative comment. If you want Mexican food, go to Tucson, Phoenix, or El Paso. Luquin's may have unique specialties that are better than the traditional fare I sampled. They could be a bit cheaper for what they do. This is not a bad place, but judging by other reviews, I would go for the exotic dishes here if they are to your taste. Classic Pahoa Eatery
The food is generally OK - fish tacos, guac and enchiladas are all good. BUT you go to Luquins because you are in Pahoa, want a marg and to meet the the patrons.    [28 Jan 2007 20:37:50]
