great food, reasonable prices
This is a popular place, so you might have to wait to be seated.
You can call ahead and put your name on the waiting list, but they don't take reservations.
The food is great and the price is reasonable. I've had service ranging from great to marginal.

Good Food
I highly recommend this place, the food was great. The first time I ate there, I had the prime rib sandwich (THE FRENCH FRIES ARE GREAT, and so when I went again I decided to try the steak and scallops (wonderful), the waitress was great.    [04 Feb 2005 03:20:44]

Steak and scallops are the best!!
We don't mind the wait - hop over to the bar next door (clipper_ which has also been a mainstain in Ankeny, and they'll call you when your table is ready. And Tony makes the most famous bread wrapped hams and Easter and Christmas - AWESOME!!!!    [31 Dec 2006 13:37:28]

Still the best
Bears has been the best place to eat in Ankeny for over 25 years. They have been consistent in their quality. They know they have a good thing going and did not ruin it by making too many changes.    [28 Jan 2008 10:46:29]
