Excellent Place.. Never go there....
This is one of my least favorites places in Champaign. I have been here 3 times. The service just sucks.

Why it sucks...

Been for a buffet when they were just about to close. They were all ready to throw us out.

He pre-charges tips on your bill. I was thinking tips are what you would like to give when you like the service.

They are better restaurants to go. I would personally advice any one not to go here. They are overpriced with bad quality food.

Any way these are my ideas about the place and they same for many of the people whom I know.    [21 Jul 2005 22:34:59]

Thoroughly overpriced and lousy food besides
Their buffet is a joke and a ripoff. An unhappy confluence of overpriced ($7.99 at lunch for only 5 dishes) and underspiced.    [16 Feb 2006 11:16:24]

Horrible
Don't waste your time or your money. This isn't authentic Indian cuisine. The food tastes terrible and is far too expensive.    [12 Mar 2006 20:56:07]

I Love It.
We eat here about 4 to 6 times per year. I have tried the two other Indian restaurants in C-U and this is just as good or better in taste, and its far superior in atmosphere.

The evening buffet is only offered on certain days, but it's got lots of choices, attractively presented, well seasoned and we have always had great service.

They don't put ice in the water glasses, but that is a reflection of culture.    [07 May 2006 18:29:11]

surprised
I was surprised. I've been to many Indian restaurants in U.S. They have some of the worst food I ever tasted. They claim that it is Indian & Pakistani food. In their buffet they had Chicken korma (no spices at all) overpriced. If you don't like the food you stil have to pay tip they will add to your bill. Serve (NAAN) Indian bread only once with your buffet. They never come back with more. I agree with above writer, don't waste your time and money at Basmati Indian Cuisine.    [23 Aug 2006 14:49:59]

Horrible ! Horrible !
Been there quite few times. Don't try to rush....its always empty. Food is grossly overpriced and quality inferior. Wonder how is it still running? Might be the owners are having some other business and this restaurant is just a front business.

Please don't go
I read the reviews above and said "what the heck" and went there to check out by myself with a friend of mine.

The food was very very bad and it was a terrible experience. The food is overpriced. Also they added the tip without my approval (what a loser!).

So, my recommendation: please don't go there at any cost.    [07 Apr 2007 22:43:46]
