customer unfriendly
Never have I been to a restaurant that charges for refills on pop in the last several years. However this one does. I think it it reflects a very unfriendly attitude. The price is not the object here, it is about repeat business and making the customer happy. With so many restaurants to choose from, I will not return or recommend.    [08 Jul 2002 15:43:26]

I'd eat here everyday!
I have rated Jimmy's as #1 on my top 10 list of favorite restaurants. The food is incredible, the staff is very pleasant, and the atmosphere makes you feel like a million bucks! I'd eat there everyday if I could!    [05 Nov 2002 12:35:29]

Gone Downhill
For years, my family enjoyed dining here, but recent visits have been disappointing. Service is indifferent at best, and the food, which previously had been very good for the money, has lost quality. Broiled chicken was very dry on last visit, and on time before, fish was not tasty. Surprisingly, the manager (owner?) was incredibly rude to us about a seemingly innocuous minor matter that most restaurants would have easily dealt with --especially since the expense involved was maybe 1 penny. His attitude said a great deal about his desire for repeat business (he doesn't want any). He claims he has owned the restaurant for six years, but he did not look familiar and I suspect there has been some change in ownership/management. It's a shame--this was a good place at one time, but our last few visits have not been good.    [29 Dec 2002 23:14:24]

I LOVE IT!!!
I have been dining here for about 4 years now and every time I go it gets even more wonderful. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is one that is comfortable and makes you feel like you are at home. I feel it is hard to find that anywhere else in Lake County. The service is wonderful and have had no problems, they have even done a great job at suggesting new items to try!    [25 Feb 2003 13:46:22]

Watch Your Credit Card
My first visit to Jimmy's Charhouse will be my last. The service left much to be desired, the food was good, but didn't make up for what was to happen. I took an adult party of 6 to dinner, when the bill came I quickly gave the server my debit card (directly connected to my checking account), the server came back a short while later and told me the card was declined. I was very surprised, but gave her my MasterCard to run through. She came back with a credit card slip to sign. I left the tip in cash on the table and signed the credit card slip. Long story short... they charged both my debit card and my credit card that evening. Both different amounts. When I called the restaurant, they were more than unfriendly and denied the incident. I had to have my bank call them and tell them they charged me. I was finally credited, but not even an apology from Jimmy's.    [13 Mar 2003 17:21:58]

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!
I had be going there for a while, but now this place just sucks!!! The service is most of the time very bad (waiting for 1 and a half for my meal and the waiter did not even apologize), and the owners-managers are very rude!! They constantly try to cut down on costs which explains why the food is not good anymore.    [04 Apr 2003 15:54:42]

Stupid, PEOPLE!
On Friday 7/16/04 We had received a couple of gift certificates to the Libertyville place (our misfortune). After the mediocre meal & poor service (first time waitress with no help or training) we paid with the gift certificates, my wife errantly gave them two certificates, one certificate covered the tab. As we were leaving we were collared by the waitress and a goof of a manager. It turns out the extra gift card had expired, but so what, it wasn't needed to cover the tab. These morons didn't bother to check to see the bill was covered, but proceeded to try and drag us back inside the restaurant. My wife and I were dumbfounded as another goof (executive general manager) joined the fray. When they realized their mistake these sorry souls didn't have the class to apologize. Nor did they apologize a few minutes later when, after having reflected on their poor behaviour, we called to talk to an owner.    [16 Jul 2004 21:23:12]

Good Food, Good Service
I have dined at the Riverwoods restaurant several times for lunch and the first time at the Libertyville restaurant for dinner. The food at both was very good as well as the wait staff service. Lunch orders are served quickly, so it is easy to get in and out in under 45 minutes for lunch. My wife and I just had dinner for Valentine's day and we both were very pleased with our meals. We will definitely be going back.    [15 Feb 2006 11:43:20]

ABSOLUTELY APPALLED!!!!!
I work right down the street from Jimmy's and until tonight, enjoyed eating there several times per month. I went there for lunch on November 29, 2006 and ordered 2 shrimp dejohnge appetizers (total of $21.34). It was pouring rain. I went in got my bag and returned to work only to find that I didn't have any eating utensils, only one partial loaf of bread, which usually accompanies one appetizer, and the butter was just thrown in the bag and had melted. I called back and was treated so rudely that I will NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AND WILL MAKE SURE THAT NONE OF MY CO-WORKERS GO THERE EITHER!!!!! The hostess simply apologized when I first called about the way the food had been packed. But, when I got ready to enjoy my appetizer, which is large enough for a meal, I discovered that we weren't given any eating utensils. Now, I'm angry....so I call back and told her she needed to make some sort of restitution toward my next meal. I asked to speak to the manager and George got on the phone and said that I did have eating utensils because the hostess said she put them in there!!!!! I asked him was he calling me a liar? He bumbled and mumbled and said no, but she said she put the utensils in the bag. I asked him why would I call him and lie about something like that????!!! I told him I felt like they served my food like I was a dog. I told him I was very disappointed. He asked me could I come back and he would give me utensils, bread and more butter. I said no (it was still pouring down cold rain) I was on my lunch break and I wouldn't come back. I told him he should offer something off on my next visit. He let out a loud sigh and said "ok, I'll give you one free shrimp dejohnge on your next visit". I said, "that's more like it." He said, "Don't tell me that's more like it, I'm doing it because I want to". I reiterated that is better customer service. He appeared to be ready to hang up and I asked him how was he going to know who I was, he said "I know who you are, you come in here every Wednesday and complain about the same thing."! I said "I do not!" This was my first time EVER complaining to this restaurant. However, I happen to work with a young lady who has had to complain a couple time also, but to just make a broad statement left me speechless. I will NEVER SET FOOT ON THAT PROPERTY AGAIN!!!!!!!!    [30 Nov 2006 01:24:02]
