Old style sit down dinner. Located on East 71st Street, 1/2 block East of Keystone. Right next to Sakura Mart grocery.
I've just had their lunch buffet so far, though they do have menu service. I think the buffet is just for lunch, and supper is menu service only.
Their modus-operandi is a small number of buffet items done very well. They apparently don't feel obligated to have all the Chinese buffet "standards" so they can focus on doing their core dishes just right, and keeping them fresh.
They are pretty busy during the lunch rush, so there is good turnover of the items on the steam table.
There is no salad bar, but there is a modest fruit (watermelon and cantelope) and dessert bar.
By not having all the steam trays full of stuff that hardly anybody eats, they save on costs, and pass that along with a low price for the lunch buffet.
Decor is the old grand style, and has been kept up and clean. Men's room was clean.
Center of dining area has a couple of those big round tables for 8 or 10 people, and there is a side dining room for large groups.
The items on the lunch buffet impressed me enough that I'm planning on going back for an evening meal.
I didn't see the menu, but the style of the lunch items makes me think they specialize in Southern Chinese cuisine. [12 Aug 2007 22:28:40]
